The Engagement Night Story...

On New Years Eve last year, Ron took Doreen to the Copper Room in the Harrison Hots Springs Hotel, to enjoy some dinner and dancing...  

It was on this evening, Doreen Ann Luczi said YES!... 

The funny thing was that Ron knew Doreen is a very spiritual person, and was concerned about the style of engagement ring.  He went to at least a half dozen jewelry stores and settled on two styles...  (That's one too many).

Instead of ruining the surprise, he elected to present Doreen with an option!  His instinct was to go with the "Mystic Topaz"..  The name alone was very interesting.  But the stone was truly mystical..  It seemed to be the right colour for Doreen too.  And her mom would approve.  It was a "Big Rock".  The other ring was more of a celtic/greek roman style.  A cool leaf design, something Doreen had said she liked.

When the time came to "pop" the question, Ron pulled the first ring out, got down on his knee (in the middle of the restaurant) and asked "Will you marry me?".  Doreen, in a state of shock, looked at the ring and said nothing.  In a panic, Ron pulled the second ring from his pocket, and ask "How about this one?"...

In the end, the answer was "Yes!"...  It felt like an eternity, but maybe it was 30 seconds.  

Dancing was the next on the agenda.  Doreen was a mess, tears flowing from her eyes.  And all eyes were on Ron.  That bastard must have hit her!..  Or maybe it was a break-up...  gone bad for the girl.  Or maybe, a few saw Ron on his knee and knew that this was the beginning of the rest of their lives...

Ronald Kent Jacklin & Doreen Ann Luczi will be married on July 18th, 2009 at the Tigh-Na-Mara Seaside Spa Resort.
